Risk Disclosure

Please read this before you use any CATS dashboard or the Surf Report.

Who we are

Clawdog’s Awesome Trading Suite (“CATS”) is made by Clawdog Inc., doing business as Clawdog’s Trading Co. (“we”, “us”). This disclosure applies to the CATS dashboards, Clawdog’s Surf Report, clawdog.com, our social media and anything else we publish.

Education, not advice

Everything we publish is for education and information only. Nothing we publish is investment, financial, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, future or option. Nothing we publish is an offer or a solicitation to buy or sell anything.

We are not registered advisers

We are not registered as an investment adviser with the SEC or any state, and we are not a broker-dealer, a commodity trading advisor, a futures commission merchant or a member of the NFA. We publish general, impersonal information that is the same for every subscriber. We do not give advice tailored to any person, and we cannot answer questions about what you should do with your own money.

Signals are general, not personal

Dashboard signals, grades and trade plans are generated automatically from market data by fixed rules. They are the same for every user and do not take your finances, goals, experience or risk tolerance into account. Position sizes are calculated from settings you enter and are examples, not advice.

Trading is risky

  • Trading and investing involve substantial risk. Many people lose money.
  • You can lose some or all of the money you trade, and with futures and some options strategies you can lose more than you put in.
  • Futures are leveraged. A small price move can produce a large loss.
  • Options can expire worthless. Short options can be assigned early. Spreads have a maximum loss that can be reached quickly, especially near expiration.
  • Prices can gap past stops, and fast markets can fill orders at worse prices than shown.
  • Futures, options and leveraged products are not suitable for everyone. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.

Hypothetical results and grades

The A, B and C grades on our dashboards, and any test results we publish, come from applying rules to past market data (backtesting). They are hypothetical. No real money was traded to produce them.

CFTC Rule 4.41: HYPOTHETICAL OR SIMULATED PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE CERTAIN LIMITATIONS. UNLIKE AN ACTUAL PERFORMANCE RECORD, SIMULATED RESULTS DO NOT REPRESENT ACTUAL TRADING. ALSO, SINCE THE TRADES HAVE NOT BEEN EXECUTED, THE RESULTS MAY HAVE UNDER- OR OVER-COMPENSATED FOR THE IMPACT, IF ANY, OF CERTAIN MARKET FACTORS, SUCH AS LACK OF LIQUIDITY. SIMULATED TRADING PROGRAMS IN GENERAL ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DESIGNED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFIT OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN.

No guarantee

Past performance, whether real or hypothetical, does not guarantee future results. A grade describes how a set of rules behaved in the past. It is not a prediction, and an A setup can lose.

Examples and testimonials

Charts, trades and scenarios on our website, in the Surf Report, in user guides and on social media are examples for teaching. They are not a record of our own trading and not a promise of what you will see. If we share a customer’s comments, they reflect that person’s experience, may not be typical, and have not been verified, since we have no access to anyone’s brokerage account.

Data, alerts and availability

The dashboards rely on market, options and calendar data supplied by third parties, including TrendSpider. Data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and a dashboard can show an incorrect reading as a result. Alerts and updates can arrive late or not at all. Our tools are provided “as is”, without any warranty. We do not execute trades, hold funds or see your account. Always check prices and orders with your broker before you trade.

Your decisions are yours

You are solely responsible for every trade you place, including any trade you route or automate from a signal or alert. Paper trade first, use only money you can afford to lose, and consider talking with a licensed financial professional about your situation.
